Inventor of the ATM dies...

I've never heard of John Shepherd-Barron.  I doubt too many people have.  However, he changed the world of banking as we know it.  He created the first Automatic Teller Machine or ATM in 1967. He died this past Saturday at the age of 84.

John first got the idea for an ATM when he needed money and found his bank closed.  Basing it on the concept of traditional vending machines, he even introduced the familiar PIN (personal identification number) we know today.

You can read a bit more about this innovative Scotsman HERE.

Just thought I'd give a shout-out to one of those unsung individuals that changed our lives.
